Creating an Unsolicited Inbox Rule Creating an Unsolicited Inbox Rule


 

You can create an Inbox Rule that will filter your e-mails, so that only peole you know will be able to send e-mail to your Inbox.

Creating the Unsolicited Folder:

  • From your Inbox, click on Folder Wizard
  • Create a folder
  • Name it Unsolicited. (See section 3.01 of the Support section Help Guide)

Creating an Inbox Rule:

  • Click on Settings in the upper right hand corner.
  • Under the Inbox heading, click on Inbox Message Rules.
  • Click on the New button.

 

Writing the Rule:

  • In Description type in Unsolicited.
  • Match the following rule criteria:
    • Click
    • In the second box choose Equals.
    • In the third box choose E-mail.
    • Click New Criteria.
    • Leave And as is.
    • Click
    • In the second box choose Not In Contact Folder.
    • In the third box choose Everyone by clicking on the yellow folder icon to the right and selecting it in the window that appears.
    • Click New criteria.
    • Leave And as is.
    • Click
    • In the first box choose Junk Mail
    • In the second box, choose Does Not Equal
    • In the third box choose Yes.
  • When all criteria are met, perform the following actions.
    • Click
    • Choose Move message to
    • Click on the folder icon to the right of the blank window and choose the Unsolicited folder.
  • Click the Save button at the bottom of the window.

Your rule should look just like this:

Now email coming from an email address you do not have in your Contact Manager will go into your Unsolicited folder. From there you can simply delete the email if it is unwanted.

If you want to receive email from this individual, then you can open the email and click on the Add Contact button to create a contact record for the sender. Then simply save that contact record and future emails from this email address will appear in your Inbox folder.
